Hillary was my assistant a million years ago and now an accomplished photographer, with a gorgeous family. Somehow she finds time to home school, be loving, and on top of that, take lovely authentic photographs of peoples weddings and portraits

She honored me today and let me photograph her growing family. Thank you Sabeen and Zoe for being such lovely models.

I am so blessed to know you allthis one is from my polaroid 110a from 1959, way cooool

Anthony and Carrie are perfectly matched. One sweet, the other sweeter. The wedding nuptials were to be held at the families weekend homestead, a spot once surrounded only by farms, now with both a rural and industrial view.Clouds kept threatening then clearing then the sky turned dark. Moments before the ceremony, there was a sudden shift and a glorious warm pink blue and yellow sky lit the glowing couple.

the moment the ceremony ended there was a mad dash for cars and buses, the sun was rushing down below the horizon and I caught just a few very soft and lovely moments with Carrie and Anthony. How lovely How special

The reception at RoundHill House was a FEAST in all definitions  of the word. Dancing was exhuberant.Joyful. Spontaneous and Celebratory

Congrats. and a speical thanks to Ginny and her extremely talented sister. They provided so many amazing details that colored the entire wedding, from home made Chupa to birdhouses

Lainie and Adam’s wedding, held at the family’s home, was sunny, and windy and warm, just like the two of them. Surrounded by friends and family, these two lovely people said their very personal vowels at high noon, the heather and lavender scenting the air.

Rick Orlando provided the vegetarian fare, all fresh and delicious. The music was a combination of jazz, klezmer and pop, all provided by outstanding musicians from Woodstock. As the wind was providing an amazing breeze on an otherwise very hot day, the musicians looked as though they were in ectasy, something rarely seen at a wedding. It really was profound to see the smiling faces as they played the day away.

Lainie is a wise and gentle lady, and Adam is a true male counterpart. It was an honor to be a part of the day

It was an absolutely perfect evening. Magical light, beautuful setting and a fantastic couple. Trisha had on a dress that was at once vintage and modern. Joey had on his wry sensibility and perfectionism. The music was his baby ( his band played) and it was outstanding. Joey then graced us with a guitar solo and some Springstein.outstanding.

for favors we created Holgaroids for the guests to take home. everyone enjoyed them and the evening was capped off with sparlers and champagne

A very special holgaroid set up

at the Diner

Nicollette and Florian met in a diner, fell in love and for fun, we decided to have a vintage”diner  shoot” I love the retro style and references to detective books

Kelli and Andrew live in Washington DC and the day of the engagement shoot would be our first face to face meeting. I was hoping they would be as nice as they seemed via email..well they were so much more. Two truly lovely sweet, in love people.

We ventured down the road to kaatsbaan, where I am lucky to be able to shoot at will. The crisp air, warm sun and beautiful fresh snow all added to the romantic fun.

I think these photos are sexy and warm. Hope you do too! I can not wait for the wedding. It will be a great day

Saturday morning, a chill in the air, two glowing people in love with each other, Katherine and John…Autumn was certainly here . As we wandered thru the park we  were having so much fun it was contagious. Along came a galle of kids hosted by a “Dennis Leery” kind of guy, very NY fireman, Irish, who told all the kids to jump up on the wall. katherine and John kept laughing and kissing. I was happy all day.

Thanks to the kids and that man…whoever you are. You really made my day

Adorable bubbly Chelsea and handsome Jeremy are getting married in the Autumn, at a Barn in Vermont. We wanted to do a pre hsoot, or as it may be called, an engagement shoot. I know Chelsea’s parent’s , but never got to know Chelsea.

Right away i knew it was going to be a blast. Chelsea is so full of life and love for Jeremy. And I absolutely adore Jeremy. Such a sweet heart. I can not wait for th wedding.

We drove over to a local spot, Montgomery Place, Red Hook, NY and they immediately got into the spirit

Check out the view, too. Simply stunning

Sunday afternoon

New years day 2012. Took my  circa 1959 Polaroid 110a camera out for a spin. it is a warm, balmy early winter afternoon, where the light is pearly, and yet the shadows are gorgeous velvet. the film I am using has recently been discontinued, so this is precious, from my stash.

I come across the beautiful scrolly shadows. If I was a writer they would be a poem

My camera requires time, time to focus, then time to frame. it is much more satisfying them a digital camera. Here there is a tick, a thump and resounding shutter click when it successfully fires.

Getting ready is a funny, warm and connected time, between best friends, sisters, moms. This time is more precious then most realize.

I was shooting a wedding, one filled with celebratory family and friends, a lovely couple, fresh flowers. It started with a small simple city hall ceremony, on a very rainy and windy october day in New York City. Before the “wedding” hall was built, before they sold all manner of wedding chotche. This wedding was unabashedly full of love and whimsy.

Standing in line, waiting for a ready judge, there stood the couple. She in full wedding attire, face covered with a veil. Plastic bouquet that I think may have come out of a steamship trunk or worn suitcase. He, seriously standing, license in his grip( which I imagine to be sweaty)

They have a small entourage. An elderly woman with her shopping bags, that I deemed to be the gr0oms mother, and a similar looking man, probably the grooms brother.

I have written many different stories in my mind to complete this picture

Is she happy? and Him? what are they thinking? Did she come to the US to get married and have a new life? Did he decide to find a bride and here he is? Are they in love? Do they even know each other???

I met Jessie at  best friends wedding. It was a cold Autumn West Village wedding, where Jessica grew up. Two years later, Brian and Jessica were having their nuptials at a church in New Jersey to be followed by a grand reception.

With all of the gold and glitter, the pomp and circumstance, the planning, the flowers and lighting, and the great , great band, the thing that stands out the MOST, is that Jessica nad Brian are really great together. Really wonderful new parents, Brian so sweet with his little boy thta I melt watching him. Jessie so interested in Brian’s well being.

It was an honor to be the photographer, capturing the joy and emotions. Congrats to you and to your little boy, lucky kid.He picked tow great parents

An Elopement

Some weddings are elaborate, with hundreds of guests  in attendance, a large entourage of attendants, as well as all the requisite details….band, food, flowers, photographer, videographer.Well you get the idea.

Other weddings are an intimate expression of love and commitment between two people, and an officiant. A time to say personal vowels, without the bravado of a huge audience.

Frank and Sophie had once both been down the aisle with the whole hoopla

This time it is for keeps, personal, intimate, real, just what they both had in mind all along. They chose to have a few days together at a charming bed and breakfast in the New Paltz area. A few weeks before the big day we drove all over and decided on a few spots where we would take portraits. And what a glorious day it was!

Just before we drove off there was to be ceremony. Frank prepared the table with rings, mementos and other touching items. He paid more attention to detail then any groom I have ever met, just for Sophie.

Then Sophie completely surprised Frank by wearing a formal full length white bridal gown ( he wore a tux, too!)

From Mohonk to a farmers market ,the day offered endless possiblities

Enjoy

The Belvedere was really buzzing with all the activity. Jennifer was smiling …like crazy, and calm, so very calm. Ashu was clearly a man with a mission, and the look on his face said it all. He was ready, anxious to start life with Jenn and so very very happy.

Like a jewel box, the tent at the Belvedere never was prettier. Lighting matched Jenn’s gorgeous Sari from Bombay

This is a totally fusion wedding, two ceremonies, one Catholic, one Hindu, two wedding gowns, one traditional gorgeous white and the other a  hand beaded magnificent Sari, bought in Bombay. A Sari that makes Jenn’s face light up.

Here is a album design I made for Ashu and Jennifer

I met Lisa and Johnny almost a year ago, for an engagement shoot. Lisa is a stunning beauty, at once really gorgeous, generous and kind. and Johnnie is the sweetest, greatest guy. I knew we would be having a great time, but I never expected to have sooo much fun, It was a joyous sexy shoot.

Lisa decided to give Johnnie a special wedding day gift, so we conspired and created a book of boudoir shots. Lisa reminds me of a Guess model, except she has no idea how beautiful she is. the photos are hot.

then the real deal, the wedding.

Every touch, every detail, the candles the flowers of hydrangeas from the neighbors garden, the food lovingly prepared by Lisa’s Aunt, the name tags, the completely unique boutineres…nothing “typical ” here. Lisa must have been woring for months and months I have been at many many “hi end” designer weddings, none more beautiful than this homemade wondrous event

take a look!

Wedding preshoots are a wonderful time for us to get to know each other better. I love the time, uninterrupted by all of the hubbub of the wedding day, time spent taking pictures, chatting and become more than just client and photographer. On the wedding day, when I arrive, I feel welcomed by you,and it is soooo much easier to make emotionally connected images.

A few days ago I met Suzie and Tony at Brooklyn’s waterfront. we strolled along the streets, using the urban landscape as a great backdrop. I am so taken with both of them Suzy and Tony are the real deal, genuine, unpretentious, absolutely definitely in love with each other. They are a complete joy to be around and I am honored to be the photographer for their wedding.

Stacy and Clayton, Stacy tall, freckeled, lovely and gorgeous, Clayton a true Gentleman, funny, courageous and above all so sweet. They had a wonderful magical wedding on a beautiful summer’s eve, the sky an inky black just filled with stars.

Stacy planned every little detail, from the beautiful antique touches, vintage photos, apples for guest seat placement, to the wonderful white antique car. The lawn was filled with the aroma of flowers .I fell in love with both Stacy and Clayton.

As the evening progressed with the music spun by  Stephanie and Jeff Padovani, everyone moved out to the bonfire for a sweet treat of smores.

I will always remember you both. Here is to Stacy and Clayton Two of the best!

A sunfilled ceremony

So the magic day brought streaming sun, drum beats and  Nicolette’s huge blue eyes…windows into her world. The wedding was so perfect. Joan of First Impressions did a fantastic job putting together a wildly wonderful party.

Belly dancer, congo drums and rose petals everywhere. Can’t wait to post the crazy dance photos
